God Eater 2 Long Sword Blood Arts Gamefaqs
Still early game and maybe that's why but using long sword and tried out all the first level blood arts and I noticed that all those ones that have your square attack send out projectiles also cut your damage, well rather splits it like half into the projectile and half into the regular hit. I dunno but this seems like a terrible skill design as the damage the projectile damage is so weak there's little reason to not just go in for regular attacks so both hit or use your gun instead. When you do melee, you basically gained no benefit compared to using some other blood art.
Am I missing something about these melee ranged attack blood arts?
The lower level ones are bad, the lategame ones are actually a little ridiculous, but there's no reason to not be using the ones that replace Impulse Stance (I think they're all named dances in the Japanese version, not sure about translation) that power you for the duration of the combo upon activation.
same experience with the spear version of that. makes little energy spears that stab a split second after my physical stab. they were absurdly weak. i'm talking doing 130+ with a physical stab and the energy spear doing 3. even for the first level that was ridiculous, but the second level did like 4-5. at that point, i switched to something else.

I've been using the rapid fire impulse edge art, assuming you can hit a weak spot with it and are using a blast gun you just murder Aragami.

I wore myself out on long swords and refuse to use them anymore. But from what I remember, the IE in GER was based off the sword and not the gun, like it was in Burst. Is it the same in RB?
yes, that is correct. for the long blade, if you miss the projectile or just hit with the projectile, you end up doing less damage than usual since the normal combo damage was cut, and on top of that, the skill "blood art damage strengthen" only affects the projectile itself.
BUT it's also concentrated damage and chases aragami that run away and actually does close damage to the other square blood art and is great on npcs (and as an avatar card), so you decide.

you'll only see the true extent at the third level where they all start to gain alot more effects.

it is based off your gun now and is a set damage type, iirc
Yea the idea is to hit up close with them and get both types of damage. However, say the enemy jumps backwards away from you while you were attacking, normally you would just miss but with the ranged skill you can squeeze off a little more damage.
Run-on sentence, I know.
This is one of my three cycles of life. The secret cycle.

Impulse Stance? It's Zero Stance, and Impulse Edge is a seperate mechanic.
@TC-I used one yesterday and the damage is slightly higher if you land both hits, they're all terrible period.

What do you mean by based off the gun?
The blood art was changed to be based off your gun stats which resulted in a HEAVY nerf because guns effectively have lower multipliers than blades do.

Those aren't really as strong as you think they are.
